Paperweight I
One - 2 Hour Class
This is a beginning class designed for individuals who want to learn skills such as gathering, marvering and other basic techniques with molten glass. You will work one-on-one with Tom, a 20 year career studio artist. The instruction also includes familiarization with equipment, tools and shop safety. No experience required.
Cost: $125 per person + tax
Bring a friend: $165 + tax for two people

Requirements:
1. 18 or older.
2. Approved clothing and the supplied safety glasses (info below).
3. Good health and ability to withstand the heat and physical demands of glassblowing. Please check with your doctor if you have any questions. Ambient heat can be too much for those sensitive to high temperatures.
4. You must sign a liability release.

What You Will Need:
· Wear a long sleeve cotton shirt for protection. Synthetics are NOT acceptable.
· Comfortable shoes or athletic shoes (No open toe shoes)
· Water bottle
· Tie back hair securely

Safety glasses are required. All students wear safety glasses. These will be supplied or you can bring your own sunglasses.

Safety
Be aware of other people in the studio especially the blowing area when holding a blowpipe. Be sure to take note of what tools and equipment are hot and may burn you. Be attentive! Pipes, rods, jacks and shaping tools are hot. Don’t slide your hand too far up the blowpipe. A little hot water can splash on you when you’re using shaping tools. The Marver a metal table used for rolling the glass on can be hot too.
