Tom was drawn to making art because of its freedoms and inventiveness. While working in metalsmithing, he found glassblowing and his passion for creating continued to expand. “Glassblowing feeds my desire to explore and experiment. It is spontaneous and immediate and at the same time methodical and technical. There are endless possibilities in form and coloration techniques in which I can produce textures and visual qualities that leave a lasting impression.” In his latest body of work, he utilizes harmonious colors and modern shapes and works with multiple design elements to create striking sculptural pieces. Tom has maintained and operated his own glass studio for 25 years and his work is widely collected through the U.S. and on display in a variety of Kansas City private, corporate and community locations.
